The production of Finnish cucumbers is always precise and highly weather-dependent. Growing the seedlings in the fields requires the right temperature and moisture, and too much water or cold can delay the entire harvest season.
June 2025 was cool and rainy, which slowed the growth of domestic cucumbers. Fortunately, the warm July arrived just in time and saved the harvest: the cucumbers were able to grow to full size and develop their delicious flavor.
In early July, the production of this season’s cucumber products began at Herkkumaa, and now the harvest season is concluding. Our picked cucumbers have been jarred for the next year and are already available in stores.
Since 1987, Herkkumaa pickled cucumbers have been made using the same recipe and are among Finland’s best-selling pickled cucumbers – fresh, crunchy, and full of flavor. Want to see how cucumbers go from the field to the jar? Discover the story of our cucumbers here.
